MODIFYING machinery is an ongoing process of constant fine-tuning for South Australian farmer Bill McMahon. Mr McMahon and his wife, Dianne, grow a range of cereals and grain legumes on their mixed cropping-grazing property, Ora-na, at Booborowie, 40 kilometres north-east of Clare in SA's mid-north. McMahon says he does not mind injecting money into his cropping enterprise while wool remains depressed but, like many farmers, is wary of overcapitalising on plant and machinery.
