JST MORE than a year ago, New Zealand-born John Hammond was the typical company executive with a desk job, company car and mobile phone. Deciding his life was heading in the "wrong direction", John and wife Genevieve, an occupational therapist, and their two daughters, Marnie and Julie-Alice, packed their bags and headed for the bush. Finding the legendary Mungerannie Store, 850 kilometres from Adelaide and 313km south of Birdsville, was the realisation of a dream for the energetic couple.
