Crude throughput at China’s refineries set another new high of 15.54 million barrels per day in September, while the third-quarter average of 15.24 million b/d was up almost 16% year on year. But those numbers were eclipsed by the country's third-quarter exports of refined products, which rose 45% versus the same period of 2022. The year-earlier tally for exports of refined products provided a low base for comparison, however, with Beijing only releasing large export quotas for refined products in late September 2022 to help refiners cope with sluggish domestic oil demand.
