摘要

The role of pulse length in the transmission of amplitude-manipulated binary signals has long been the subject of discussion in the literature, though the widespread conclusion that the error does not exceed 0.5% of the useful signal if the pulse length does not exceed 0.1 of the length of the character is out-dated. In the present article it is shown that such an assertion is violated in cases of multi-level manipulation of the amplitudes of the input pulses of a Nyquist filter.
