Fusion of two separate worlds -how the integration of operating- and information-system increases the usability of machines and plants

The article deals with the integration of operating and information systems and how it can increase the usa-bility of production-machines. The today's separation of machine control system from information-applica-tions leads to deficits for the users. They must use different media or software-applications, in order to elimi-nate their problems during the interaction. Additionally two different development-processes for program-ming and for documentation have effects on the production-costs. On the basis of realisations regarding the usability of Useware-applications and the human information-processing common aspects of operating and information-systems are pointed out and possibilities for their integration are derived. This brings advantages for the developers as well as for the users.
