Sunila (known as Suni) Chotai was born in Uganda and lived in Brighton. Suni joined the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 1983, after studying pharmacy at Chelsea College and then obtaining a MSc in biopharmacy in 1984. Suni was one of the earliest community services pharmacists between 1984-1988 and again between 1997-2003. She later worked as a pharmacist inspector for the Commission for Social Care and then for the Care Quality Commission until 2017. Suni had hospital posts at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton (1989-1991) and at Eastbourne District Hospital (1993-1997) and, in recent years, until her retirement in 2019, was working for Sussex Community NHS Trust.
