Economic Processing of Quality Crushed Sand in Gravel Works

A guaranteed year-round provision of crushed sand with reduced content of the fraction 0-90 μm irrespective of weather conditions poses a problem in most gravel works. The wet or dry treatment systems used up to this time operate either with high operating costs or are unreliable with regard to weather conditions. In the following is described how the use of an in-plant power generator with utilisation of waste gas heat (BHKW-H) based on the Hutter process (german and european patent) integrated into the actual drying plant can provide a cost-effective process for crushed sand with reduced content of the fraction 0-90 μm at constant quality standards.
