One of the places we have always wanted to visit was the Bancroft Basin, in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. The basin is at the end of the Stratford upon Avon Canal, where it joins the River Avon. However we decided not to go by boat but to drive there. The journey by road takes approximately 40 minutes. If we had gone by boat it would have been a journey of 39 miles and 80 locks and would have taken nearly 28 hours of cruising. Quite a difference in journey times but we were really keen to visit.
