Russian politicians like the idea that gas left stranded by Russia's decision to slash pipeline supply to Europe can be redirected for export as LNG. “Developing LNG production and exports is our key task because of damaged infrastructure to Europe and the loss of big pipeline sales,” Russian deputy prime minister Alexander Novak told an energy ministry meeting on 28 March. Russian LNG exports should reach “at least” 100mn t/yr (138bn m~3/yr) by 2030, he reiterated.
