Lack of physical activity is one of the main reasons for the reduction in bone density which leads to an increased level of frailty and risk of fractures. This systematic bone disease known as osteoporosis affects every third woman aged over 50 years, and with the advancement in age the frequency gets higher. The research was done among 24 women in postmenopausal period with early stages of osteoporosis according to the measurements of bone mineral density. The testing was done in Sofia, Bulgaria. The researched group was chosen randomly, and the women were divided into two groups - experimental and control group. We used nine tests for measurement and evaluation of motor abilities, functional state, and bone mineral density. Applying physical activity, aqua gymnastics in particular, can benefit the change in motor abilities, body balance, and maintenance and improvement of bone strength of 55-60-year-old women with an early stage of osteoporosis and post menopause.
