The UK's Unite trade union said Nov. 8 its members at the Fawley refinery in southern England would join strikes over pay first announced by members of the GMB union. The 270,000 b/d facility in Hampshire on the south coast is a vital supply source, sharing the top spot for UK refining capacity with Valero's Pembroke in Wales. Owner ExxonMobil is in the process of replacing the aviation fuel pipeline from Fawley to Heathrow airport, west London.
