A former chair of the Public Utility Commission of Texas believesthe state’s electric grid operator, the Electric Reliability Council OfTexas Inc., could establish more interties with the rest of the U.S.transmission grid without subjecting its wholesale power market tofederal regulation.The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has increased itsfocus on grid reliability in the wake of the February 2021 winter storm,an extreme cold weather event that knocked out power for millionsof Texans.
