It relates to method and a system for GTAW, particularly allowing detection of a faulty weld process. Gas-shielded Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) is a well-known and frequently used welding process. The so called plus pole variant of this process uses a non-consumable electrode in the torch as the positive lead and the workpiece to be welded as a negative lead for welding aluminium.Furthermore, plus pole GTAW can be used in in automated and robotic applications. For such operations however, a consistent and repeatable welding process is mandatory. However, fault issues may arise relating to operator error, faulty equipment, lack of gas, use of contaminated gas, improper sealing of shielding gas hoses, improper sealing of coolant liquid hoses, use of worn out consumables, use of improper weld setup parameters, etc. For this reason, detection of faulty weld conditions is critical.
