摘要

West Bengal encompasses two broad natural regions: the Gangetic Plain in the South and the sub-Himalayan and Himalayan area in the North. The sub-Himalayan mountain range runs through the Northern periphery of the State bordering with Bhutan and Sikkim State offering scope of development of Hydro Power in different stages of the rivers flowing from North to South. The Ayodhya hills stands high in the Western part of the State bordering with Jharkhand State forming a unique plateau. The topographical feature of Ajodhya hills is an ideal for storage of large volume of water at different elevations. The great mangroves forest of Sunderban is in the Southern part of the State.
