Experimental Plants Controlled over the Internet as Part of an E-learning Concept at the IPP of TUC

Several years of experience in using e-learning systems at the IPP of the TUC (Institute for Process and Production Control Technology of the TU Clausthal) have shown that the applied concept of teaching has to encourage explorative learning and has to be designed according to the principles of Human-Computer-Interaction, developed in the automation. In the framework of such a system it is possible since summer 2002 to control one of the experimental plants at the IPP over the Internet. Experiences collected and plans for further development are described in this paper.
