A hollow addilively manufactured cushion is described herein. The cushion includes a body having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a central cavity extending; through the cushion. The central cavity may, in some embodiments, be configured to receive a tool, handle, or other object for which the cushion can provide a cushioning or comfort grip, and/or enhanced gripping surface, for a user. The body includes a lattice of repeating interconnected hexahedral strut-unit cells configured as con formal layers that extend circumferentially around the central cavity. The outermost conformal layer, which in some embodiments, may provide the gripping surface noted above, forms a regular surface pattern of interconnected struts on the outer surface. The regular surface pattern in objects described herein is not only aesthetically desirable, but-by being substantially devoid of irregularities-may prompt a user to grip the cushion more spontaneously, without pausing to avoid, or seek, a particular feature created by the surface irregularity. The foregoing and other objects and aspects of the present invention are explained in greater detail in the drawings herein and the specification set forth below, The disclosures of all United States patent references cited herein are to be incorporated herein by reference.
