This paper proposes what we believe to be a novel approach for producing color art miniatures with modern photonic devices and laser technology. We discuss the concept and basic design for a "laser paintbrush" device based on an ytterbium-fiber nanosecond pulsed laser. A functional demonstration of the proposed approach is performed by creating a sample color miniature on a titanium surface. We study the optical properties of the "painted" areas to determine the range of laser parameters suitable for such a device. (C) 2021 Optical Society of America
