Tasmanian Atlantic salmon and ocean trout aquaculture have traditionally been in the south of the state as the waters in the northern reaches are considered too warm for these cold-water species. Bruce Hogarth of Van Diemen Aquaculture has disprovedthis theory and is currently turning off top quality salmon and trout from his Tamar Estuary farm. The secret to this success has been in site selection and system design, which in turn has led to many operational and economic benefits.
