Naiad: New Zealand boat builder brings 'light and fast' pilot boats to the market

A company philosophy of targeting "light and fast" in its vessel designs and builds is considered one of the major points of difference for New Zealand-based boat builder Naiad. Based in Picton at the top of New Zealand's south island, Naiad's director John Cowan observes that many of the pilot boat designs and builds offered by competitors are "heavy and slow" by comparison. "Fast pilot boats mean shorter transfer times for pilots, greater flexibility and improved operating efficiency," he tells Ausmarine.
