In this issue of Chem Catalysis, Wang et al. have constructed a mechanically driven triboelectric plasma jet system for artificial nitrogen fixation, achieving a superior fixation performance at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The dominant mechanism for nitrogen fixation in this work is attributed to the vibrationally excited dissociation process.
