Yellowtail kingfish farmer strengthens position with R&D focus

After an unsuccessful attempt with the sea cage culture of snapper, 5AAM is now a leading producer of Yellowtail Kingfish. The company has maintained a strong focus on applied R&D to increase production and reduce costs. SAAM (South Australia Aquaculture Management Pty Ltd) was established in 1998 to manage sea farms in Fitzgerald Bay, approximately 35 kms by road north of Whyalla at the top end of South Australia's Spencer Gulf From humble beginning with two sea pens of snapper (Pagarus auratus), SAAM has made a rapid progression to its current position of 26 stocked pens of yellow-tail kingfish (Seriola lalandi).
