Industry slams NSW's attitude on cost recovery

In March last year New South Wales Fisheries accepted a document prepared by the Centre for International Economics (CIE). The report, 'Review of NSW aquaculture industry costs and pricing' included, amongst other content, a detailed list of recommendations and cautions concerning charges to the aquaculture industry for government services provision. Government is now promoting many of the document's recommendations, creating alarm in the industry. Richard Austin is a member of the Executive of theNew South Wales Aquaculture Association (NSWAA). In December last year he wrote to Steve Dunn, Director of Aquaculture, pointing out that. while the recommendations for full cost recovery have been acted on. it's obvious the cautions surrounding the process have been ignored.
