Members believe that the AFSA as an organisation has the power to do good. To make a difference. When fire and rescue services do well, society prospers and equality, diversity and inclusion have a key role to play in protecting and growing diverse communities. One of the key ways of working adopted by AFSA is the need to promote and advance "continuous improvement" across the Fire and Rescue Service. As the Chair of AFSA Dalwinder Rai, recently said: "Fire and rescue services need to innovate and transform, creating radically different patterns of delivery. Our members are in a unique position to help drive this change. We need to support and enable continuous improvement and, if required, to lead it." This was clear when looking through the recent nominations and the eventual winners of the AFSA Personal and Fair and Diverse Awards 2022 and the eighth Excellence in Fire & Emergency Service Awards held on December 9. "On behalf of AFSA, I would like to congratulate those nominated and winners for their dedication and commitment towards continuous improvement and learning."
