Start-up operations of a fuid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit began earlier this week at Motiva's 600,000 b/d refnery in Port Arthur, Texas. Operations commenced at 11:15am ET on 20 June and are expected to conclude at 3:15pm ET on 24 June, according to a fling to state environmental quality monitors. FCCs convert heavier residual oils into more valu- able gasoline and other lighter products.
