Mackenzie Marine and Towage is one of few Western Australian companies, possibly the only one, to offer exclusively bareboat charters to the offshore industry. This is one of the state's elder statesmen of towage with over 35 years in the business anduniversally respected. It is the only company ever to provide tug services to the port of Esperance, progressively updating its fleet from the 10TBP tugs that sufficed for the handimax bulkers of the day to the current 70TBP fire fighting tugs for the port's cape size customers. No-one in the state has more tug experience, and they have never been reluctant to innovate; they commissioned the only aluminium tug to operate in Western Australia, for example Seeking expansion beyond local harbour towage, Mackenzie stayed within their general specialty and aimed at the growth industry: offshore support and the ports that supply it.
