The world's smallest line boat?

At 5.6 metres overall, Alucraft's line boat for Yampi Sound in the Kimberley could well be the world's smallest purpose built for the job. The hull and propulsion system was proved in a limited production series of semi planing leisure craft that arethe subject of these photographs. Already built to USL standards, the redesign by naval architect Damien Smith resulted in a pocket workboat with astonishing abilities for its size. Originally designed for ultra shallow water operations and sizeable loads, and with the already considerable beam of 2.2 metres, the hull has high form stability suiting it well to line handling. Operated by Adsteam - the smallest boat in its fleet the vessel will be based at the re opened Koolan Island mine, berthing handymax bulkers at the new ship loading facility.
