The Hanjin Shipping collapse has been the lead topic in all the online trade news every day for the last month. Hanjin, the world's seventh largest container shipping company has fallen into the black hole of receivership.It was not unexpected. Box rates have been at record lows for so long I can't remember when the trade was viable. Yet the big players have curiously continued to place orders for these 18,000TEU megaships? Surely they must know what they are doing. The rest of the world's shipping industry has just watched to see what was going to happen next. Well, it's happened and to be perfectly honest, it wasn't unexpected.
