Victoria-based PHA Welding & Marine was approached by the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard's Deputy Squadron Commodore to see if they were interested in quoting on a 6.5-metre RHIB.PHA was immediately interested, as they already had some ideas that they had been discussing with their naval architect, Chris Tucker Marine Design (CTMD). Between them, PHA and CTMD had started to identify a market niche for a new concept of RIB. The result is PHA's Pelagic 650 Fast Response Vessel.
