CF Fertilisers to permanently close Billingham plant

CF Fertilisers UK (CFF UK) has announced its proposal to permanently close the ammonia plant at its Billingham Complex, citing reasons of long-term sustainability and a desire to more efficiently serve its UK customer base. Despite the shutdown, the company will continue to produce ammonium nitrate (AN) fertiliser and nitric acid at the site, harnessing the global availability of ammonia for import, including from CF Industries' North American production network.
