In August 1944 my parents bought the farm we call Kuirajong which was 361 acres with 30 ML water tight. They brought with them 40 head of cattle, approximately 25 dairy cows, milked by hand. Within twelve months eight had died of starvation. Last yearwe produced 1 064 350 litres of milk, 42 767 kg butterfat, 33 158 kg protein, from 195 milkers, plus carried 90 replacement heifers, a small beef herd, 220 cashmere goats and made our own hay requirements. What has happened in the intervening 50 years to bring about the improvement in production?
