In a move one member said would threaten renewable power growthin Texas, a committee established to advise the governor and statelegislature on energy policy has called for requiring renewablepower generators to buy dispatchable capacity to complement theirintermittent output and ensure reliable power supply to the grid.The call came in a Sept. 1 report by the State Energy Plan AdvisoryCommittee, which the Texas Legislature established last year torecommend ways to avoid a repeat of the extensive, winter stormrelatedblackouts seen in February 2021.
