PETRONAS has started early development studies on an offshore oilfield discovery in Indonesia's East Java area, where it already has successful production operations in the nearby Ketapang block. Jakarta-based sources said Petronas recently issued a tender for a feasibility development study for the Hidayah oilfield discovery in the North Madura II production sharing contract. A successful contractor may have been selected but this could not be confirmed.
