With 1.7 million tonnes of virgin carbon black used across Europe and 13.5 million globally, the rubber industry is under increasing pressure from regulators, end-users and society to move towards more environmentally sustainable solutions. While recovered carbon black (rCB) has long been considered as the environmentally friendly alternative, its usage remains low amid market concerns over relia-bility-of-supply and consistency of grades, which have hampered wide-scale adoption.
