A Circuit for Excitation of a Homogeneous Barrier Discharge with Increased Specific Energy Consumption

A power-supply circuit is presented that is able to excite a powerful homogeneous barrier discharge in gases with various compositions and pressures. The setup contains a high-voltage generator of similar to 10-kV pulses with short rise times to operate at a matched load at frequencies of up to similar to 10 kHz. To match the generator to a barrier discharge, additional components were used, which made it possible to excite a homogeneous discharge at frequencies of up to similar to 7 kHz.
