Hitachi autonomous system trial at Meandu mine

THE MOVE follows the recent announcement, by international parent company Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM), of plans to develop a comprehensive suite of technologies aimed at delivering an AHS solution to the global surface mining industry by the year 2017. Meandu mine is located in Queensland's South Burnett region and feeds the Tarong power stations. The mine, acquired by owner Stanwell Corporation Limited from Rio Tinto in 2008, will play host to the three-year trial of Hitachi automated mining trucks.
