Caterpillar 5110B excavator launches new size class

After a US launch in October 2000, Caterpillar is introducing a new hydraulic excavator-the 5110B- to Australia. Weighing 125 tonnes, the 5110B establishes a new class size in the excavator market, which currently features a cluster of machines between 100 and 100 tonnes, with a gap to a 135 tonne machine.Designed to load 45 to 55 tonne trucks in four passes, the 5110B can stretch to seven pass loading of 91 tonne machines such as Cat's own 777.
