DBT, Joy to supply Tahmoor North

Austral Coal announced in late 2002 that DBT Australia and Joy Manufacturing had won the tenders to supply a 60 million dollars longwall system to the Tahmoor North mine expansion. DBT Australia and its sub contractors were chosen to manufacture and supply the majority of the longwall package comprising: · 149 X 1,128 tonne longwall roof supports incorporating 4,945mm long canopies and 2 X 400mm diameter legs · Armoured face conveyor and stageloader · Pump station · Electrical equipment. Austral Coal managing director Ugo Cano said, "DBT will provide a proven longwall equipment package representing the most modem technology available to the Australian coal industry which in our case will be customised to the Bulli seam requirements at Austral's Tahmoor mine. On installation this will be the highest capacity longwall, in terms of roof support capability, operating in the Australian coal industry".
