Resistivity Resistance Measurement- Case Studies of Practical Issues Solutions

Electricity plays an important role in growth of the nation as well as everyone's life in different forms. The interruption of supply due to breakdown or damage of expensive equipments can not be afforded in the present era. In order to avoid above situation, proper adequate designing of earthing (grouding) is mandatory. The main objective of earthing is to provide safety of persons as well as equipments. Proper earthing is not about connection of body of equipment to the general mass of earth only, but provides suitable low resistance path to fault current to go back to the source or discharge into the mother earth. Besides above good earthing also helps in the operation of sensitive electronic equipments. Proper earthing design depends on accurate soil resistivity measurement and health of earthing system is ascertained by accurate resistance measurement after installation. There are many challenges which are discussed and deliberated in the paper with the help of case studies.
