Qualily standards report card: progressing well but needs improvement

The Australian Citrus Quality Standards (ACQS) is an industry-driven program aiming to increase citrus consumption. By setting a minimum standard for internal maturity, the industry wants to offer a better consumer eating experience, decrease the amount of time between purchases and increase the average quantity of each purchase.The 2012 ACQS report card has revealed that in categories such as navel oranges, domestic consumption is falling and, whilst this is not solely related to taste, eating quality does have a large impact on demand.When the product is on the shelf and it's immature the sales of fruit come to a halt very quickly, the enthusiasm for our fruit dies out and it's difficult to coax it back.
