Citrus industry plans improv to quality of Imperial mandarin

The Imperial mandarin is the flagship variety that launches each new Australian citrus season. Therefore it is critical that only fruit of excellent quality are presented to consumers. With this goal in mind. Citrus Australia organised an industry forum at Gayndah in Queensland (QLD) on August 26 to investigate ways in which the quality of this iconic Australian fruit could be improved and assured. Citrus Australia's General Manager -Market Development, Andrew Harty explains. The well-attended forumhad a program which spanned the entire value chain, from the orchard through to the packing shed and retail promotion, with a focus on quality improvement at each step.
