The purpose of this paper is to consider sustainability from the perspective of contracting.In particular,a form of contracting called Alliance contracting.This differs from more traditional contracts which,unless specified in a brief,tend to have more of an "end of pipe" approach.Alliance contracting creates the conditions for sustainability to be considered at the outset and throughout the life of a project.
