EPA brings good and bad news for Virotec

Virotec's Bauxsol technology has received a positive endorsement from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), which has agreed to trial the product at the derelict Aberdale East mine. However Virotec is still not free of the ghosts of Tin Australia, the company's former mining business, which is being prosecuted by the Armidale office of the EPA.The Aberdale East mine is an old coal tailings dam in the Hunter region of NSW. According to Virotec highly acidic water is seeping from the site into the Hunter River Catchment. The environmental Trust of NSW is funding the rehabilitation of the site under its Abandoned Mines Program.
