Redcar and Cleveland council, has received a claim from Northumbrian Water to recoup its expenses after it had to carry out emergency repairs on a mams pipe in February this year The pipe had reportedly been damaged during a proect to extend a car park in Saltburn. near Skelton Beck, which was being overseen by the council. The damage resulted in a sewage spilling at a nearby beach, and as a result Northumbrian Water had to carry out works for several weeks to fix the damage, which included building a mini-treatment works and a dam.
