摘要

Western Journal of Nursing Research will publish a special issue about family caregiving. Drs. Tamilyn Bakas, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN and Elaine Miller, PhD, RN, CRRN, FAHA, FAAN will serve as guest editors for the special issue. According to the National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP, over 40 million family caregivers in the U.S. have reported providing unpaid care to an adult or child in the last 12 months. Family caregivers struggle to find information and resources for providing care, while experiencing changes to their own physical and emotional health, as well as financial, work related, and social consequences of caregiving. Research is needed to design tools and protocols for caregiver assessment, and how to implement, maintain, and evaluate caregiver support programs within clinical and community settings (Schulz, R. & Czaja, S.J., Family caregiving: A vision for the future, Am J Geriatr Psychiatry, 2018; 26:358-363). Original research reports, systematic review papers, methodological articles, and theory/conceptual papers are eligible for inclusion in the special issue. Please send a short description of the paper (150-200 words) to Dr. Bakas (Tamilyn.bakas@uc.edu) and Dr. Miller (Elaine.miller@uc.edu) by April 1, 2021. Drs. Bakas and Miller will notify potential authors whether the topic is relevant for this issue by April 15, 2021. Manuscripts will be submitted to WJNR by June 1, 2021. Accepted manuscripts will be published online prior to print of the special issue.
