Landcare farmers tackle stubble strategies

CEREAL stubble management has been under the microscope of the Harden Murrumburrah Landcare Group (HMLG) for the past three years. Removing the need to burn has been investigated in detail including biological methods, mechanical treatments and othertechniques.The HMLG stubble management project, funded through the Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority and National Landcare Program, and delivered by the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, has undertaken five case studies to explore methodsused currently by local farmers to form part of the overall investigations for best practice cereal stubble management.
