The debate on climate change is over - change is happening right now. The next step is making sure Australian agriculture can meet the challenges climate change will bring. Research is going to play a vital part in ensuring that there is a robust future for the industry - and farmers need to be pro-active about asking for what they want and need to know. While climate change is now widely accepted, there is still a lot of uncertainty about how it will manifest itself at a regional level. What will happen to temperature, rainfall levels, rainfall patterns, and the frequency and severity of drought? This uncertainty makes it hard to predict with any accuracy the precise impact on, and potential opportunities for, regional communities and agriculturalcommodities.
