Although green groups contend Duke Energy could procure more solarpower in its quest to satisfy North Carolina’s 2021 law setting emissionreduction goals, the utility says it makes little sense to do so nowwith solar costs still falling and while its transmission system cannotcurrently handle more.The 2021 law sets targets that include a 70 percent reduction ingreenhouse gas emissions below 2005 levels by 2030 and reachingcarbon neutrality by 2050.
