On 21 September, Achim Meier, the CEO of MeierMotors, took former Iraqi Air Force Hawker Sea Fury FB11 D-CRZY up for its first post-restoration flight at Bremgarten, south-west Germany. Owned by Italian aerobatic and warbird pilot Stefano Landi, the Bristol Centaurus-powered fighter will be based with a growing collection of historic machines at the Avioparco FlyOzzano near Bologna in northern Italy, alongside a former Egyptian Air Force Yak C-11, D-FJII, which was also restored by MeierMotors, and a Boeing-Stearman PT-13. Meier says, "The aeroplane flew incredibly well - I'm in love with it. The Centaurus engine is just so powerful, and super-clean. Although it has an extended canopy for a second seat, the aircraft is registered on a standard 'D-C certificate, so it can't carry a passenger. Stefano has now flown the aircraft, and is also very impressed" The machine was acquired for Landi during the summer of 2018 from collector/restorer Walter Bowe in Sonoma, California, with whom it flew as N97SF.
