The application of a Vivaldi antenna in subsurface radar is considered. The influence of soddy soils on the characteristics of an antipodal antenna has been analyzed. Estimates into the width of the main lobe of the radiation pattern, the directional coefficient, and the level of the front-to-back ratio of the antenna depending on soil moisture are obtained. Antenna directivity diagrams were calculated when sounding sand with a humidity of 2, 8, and 22%. An installation for studying the characteristics of antennas using the R2M-18 scalar analyzer is considered. The dispersion characteristics, radiation pattern, and gain of a laboratory sample of the antenna were measured.
