Despite the importance of a strong female presence in the mining sector becoming more apparent, women are still missing out on the same salaries enjoyed by their male counterparts. Latest figures from the 2010 AusIMM Employment and Remuneration Survey released in October show that across most levels of responsibility, males recorded a higher average salary than females who held the same position. It showed a male in a level one responsibility was earning $67,826.57 a year, almost 14% greater than females in the same profession who earned $57,857.64.
